Carpets and Rugs
Note: the material and quality of carpets and pads vary greatly. Always test
a small area before treating the total carpet. Hueter Toledo, Inc. will not
be responsible for more than the replacement cost of the OdormuteTM
product.
Spots and Small Areas
- Test a small area before use. Soak and let dry.
- In large carpeted areas, all odor sources must be located and treated.
- Dissolve 1 tablespoon in 1 quart of warm water. (Increasing the amount
of OdormuteTM will speed the action with no harm to
people, pets or fabric).
- Soak the carpet and pad in the spots in need of treatment.
- Allow to soak for 1 hour.
- Remove all excess moisture and allow the carpet to dry. Failure to do
so may produce mildew or ammonia odors. Suggestion: you may use towels, a
hair dryer or fan to speed drying.
Entire Carpets
- Test a small area before use. Soak and let dry.
- You may use a carpet cleaning machine. Substitute OdormuteTM
solution for the carpet cleaning chemicals.
- Use a ratio of 1 tablespoon OdormuteTM to 1 gallon
of warm water. Mix the amount of OdormuteTM needed with
1 pint of warm water until completely dissolved (about 5-10 minutes). Add
the solution to the carpet cleaning machine.
- After the carpet has dried and the odor has been eliminated, you may
shampoo the carpet as usual.
IMPORTANT: After soaking a carpet with OdormuteTM
solution, the area must be thoroughly dried! Failure to do so may produce
a mildew or ammonia odor. If this occurs, you may retreat the carpet with
OdormuteTM solution, adding 4 tablespoons of Baking Soda
to the machine. The baking soda neutralizes the urine acid and has natural
deodorizing properties.
Small areas may be dried with a hair dryer or electric fan. In larger
areas, the carpet and pad should be lifted and thoroughly dried. Special
care should be taken with shag or heavy carpets with porous pads.
OdormuteTM is not recommended for Oriental Rugs.
